Really nice hotel recently under gone refurbishment. Modern clean and comfortable. Spa superb. 90 minute full body massage with Tina was amazing, pretty sure I nodded off.

Located on the edge of the charming old town, the Dragonfly Hotel Bury St Edmunds offers free parking and is near to the A14. Cambridge, Ely and Newmarket are all within about 30 minutes’ drive.
In central Bury St Edmunds, the Dog and Partridge is within 2 minutes’ walk of St Edmundsbury Cathedral, the Theatre Royal and the Greene King Brewery Museum.
The Grange Hotel, an attractive Tudor-style country house hotel, lies in Thurston in the heart of Suffolk. The hotel is set in its own secluded gardens amidst open countryside.
We like Bury St Edmunds a lot! Ideal location to stay if touring the area. Beautiful cathedral with lovely gardens around the abbey. Really good markets twice a week and plenty of shops including a Primark! Huge selection of cafes & restaurants. Suggest you visit the museum, small but very interesting.
This visit was specifically to visit the Christmas market but to say it was disappointing would be a gross understatement.

The beds were very comfortable.
The shower didn’t work, as you couldn’t switch from bath to shower
The food was average. Poor selection for an evening meal.
The breakfast was average. The fried eggs were dry after sitting in a hot pan for some time.

This town is a wonderful example of how a small town centre can be conserved and modernised at the same time. The pedestrianisation is among the best we've ever encountered, the streets are picturesque and the mix of independent and middle market chain shops ideal. Foodies are spoilt for choice here - there are so many lovely cafes and restaurants from budget to fine dining that seem to do good business throughout the week. The cathedral is a joy to visit - pity St Mary's Church nearby was not given the same resources - but the high point of our visit was Abbey Gardens. They were full of local families and visitors strolling quietly throughout the day yet never felt crowded, the abbey ruins are like sculptures and the park's facilities are superb.

A lovely village feel and the locals are very friendly and welcoming. The whole town area was clean and safe. However the parking arrangements were very confusing and the danger of accidentally overstaying the Waitrose parking area comes with a potential 75 pounds fine so recommend avoiding this centre.

Fantastic place with so much history and character.
Fantastic place with so much history and character.
The Abbey Gardens are beautiful with an aviary with well cared for birds,a cafe and a plant shop.
Walking through the grounds the gardens are beautifully cards for.
The town centre has a lot to offer with lots of cafes, bistros and bars including The Nutshell,I believe the smallest pub in England.
Lots of chain and individual shops and a really good market on Saturday..and possibly wednesday.
The street are clean, the atmosphere relaxed.
There is the Greene King brewery in the town.
