Borough Market
Tucked right under the London Bridge viaduct by Southwark Cathedral, the Borough Market has been a local institution for centuries. Butchers, bakers, greengrocers and many more artisanal food producers lay out their goods from early morning every Wednesday to Saturday. Get here in enough time to snag some of the very best British grub.

Centrally food hub with every type of food imaginable.
Centrally food hub with every type of food imaginable. It is packed but well worth it. The only downside is it closes at 5PM making this a lunch destination and not dinner. Also certain food locations are open only certain days of the week. Plan ahead.

A perfect place of colour and delight to the eye,...
A perfect place of colour and delight to the eye, accompanied by a wide choice of places to eat and drink in delightful ancient surroundings under the railway arches. It's a perfect destination after a very pleasant walk along the South Bank of the Thames, where you can see the Tate Modern, the Clink Prison, the life size and floating replica of Drake's Golden Hind, with great views of St Paul's Cathedral on the other side.

If you're a foodie this is the place for you.
If you're a foodie this is the place for you. Plenty of stalls and lots of interesting foods to taste. The Spice mountain is good. The fish and chips excellent. Be prepared to come away with a little less money and a bagful of food you couldn't resist.

Avoid like a plague.
Avoid like a plague. Trying to go to the Globe theatre I got stuck in Borough Market in the middle of hundreds of people going single file because the roads had been narrowed too much by restaurant seating and outdoor grills and bars for the restaurants. Moving along Bankside has become a nightmare because everything is too built up and there are no signposts to help you navigate. I shouldn't need Google maps to find my way around my favourite part of London!

- Amazing location, next to Tate Modern, Borough Market and South Bank generally.
- Incredible setting, even for Londoners, with views over the City.
- Very helpful staff
- Excellent facilities and decor
- Great cocktail bar and restaurant (both are really worth a visit for non-guests too)
Perfect location, amazing views, local enough to walk to places such as Borough Market and Lyceum Theater but also far enough that it was peaceful and quiet.
The room was very pretty and well-decorated, as was the entire hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly. Everything was perfectly clean and the bed was quite comfortable. Great bar as well in the hotel. The location is great too, close to the tube station and Borough Market etc.
