This 1st-century bridge was once part of the Via de la Plata, the so-called Silver Road that linked Astorga in the north with Mérida to the south. Many a Roman sandal trod upon these flagstones, as well as many more generations of locals. As you wander across the River Tormes, the view up to the city rises up in front of you in a superbly photogenic scene.
