A stellar city with loads of character. I was there just for the weekend for a concert, but I will definitely come back to see it more fully. There's so much to do and see and it's teeming with culture - I saw some buskers around the HafenCity, there was an event called "Opera meets theater" at Jungfernstieg and there was more theater going on nearer the Rathaus.

Hamburg is 90% great and 10% squalid and intimidating!
Hamburg is 90% great and 10% squalid and intimidating! Plenty to do, but some areas are best avoided in the evening.
Public transport is very efficient and, if you buy the HVV card, which includes S-Bahn, U-Bahn, buses and ferries, reasonable value. Hotels and eating out are broadly similar to London prices.

Hamburg Is a large and beautiful city with lovely architecture and parks, museums and galleries The harbour is extensive which you can take day or evening boat trips. there are options for guided tours with guides taking you throughout the city, which is very helpful and gives you a more in-depth knowledge of Hamburg. For those who like it more active and vibrant than the Reeperbahn is the place for you., it also has a red light district. The restaurants and food is multicultural.

Make sure to explore the city on foot or by train, especially the areas around the Alster Lake and HafenCity. Use the efficient public transport system, including the U-Bahn and S-Bahn, for easy access to major attractions by using day pass. Take a harbor boat tour for a unique perspective of the city, and visit early in the day to avoid crowds at the popular Miniatur Wunderland.
This is an exceptionally beautiful hotel; there is so much to be appreciated in the look and feel of the rooms and the overall hotel. Very well run. The location is great in order to experience the slighter calmer and beautiful side of Hamburg, but equally walkable to the city Centre.
Very friendly welcome at the hotel, relaxed atmosphere, very tastefully furnished and comfortable, rooms quiet and private.
Location was really good as it was only a 10-15 minute walk from the station and the centre of Hamburg and there were lots of restaurants and cafes nearby.
This former school has been greatly renovated as a hotel. It is close to the metro and the centre of Hamburg is reachable in 15min. The breakfast is great, the staff incredibly friendly. The location is quiet at night, and parking is easy for both cars and bicycles.
Very clean and organised hotel. Quirky design and accommodating staff. A street away from Reeperbahn you're close to the action but not in the middle of it.
