The owners were incredibly kind. When I pointed out that the safe wasn't functioning they moved me into a larger room at no additional cost. Breakfast was excellent.

Great location just outside Abtenau and right next to the Abtenau toboggan and the Kolhof restaurant.
Two story small country house fully equipped.
Even has sun bathing beds and a grill outside including a parasol.
The owner Barbara is charming and is almost always available to help as she lives right next door.
Ample parking space.
Gasthof Weißes Rössl is located on the market square in the center of Abtenau in the Lammertal valley. Wi-Fi access and parking are available free of charge.
What were your favourite places there?
The Sommerrodelbahn, The Cable Car, The Postalm Panoramastrasse and the drive through Fischbach. What we highly recommend is a nice walk through the town and surrounding places itself!! This is a very very pretty place.
Where did you eat?
We cooked ourselves. However, we bought groceries at the Spar market in the town.
Is it easy to get around Abtenau?
Yes. The town is very accessible. We, however, did not use the public transport.
What would you avoid on your next visit?
Nothing really. The place offers a lot of things to a tourist!

The small city in the middle of the mountains.
The small city in the middle of the mountains. The small ski resort, but the bigger one is only 10 km away. Good cross country ski´s tracks. Excellent trips and bike trips in summer are possible. A lot of round trips tracks are signed around the place. It is a peaceful friendly place,

Abtenau is a wonderful quiet little summer resort town that is quite central to many areas and activities in Salzburgerland, e.g. Salzburg is 45min away by car, Dachstein, Hallstatt and Grossglockner Alpine road all in easy reach. Plenty of hikes in summertime and though we didn’t travel in winter, there are ski slopes on your doorstep for beginner/intermediate level, with advanced level ski runs a short drive away. You do need a car to get around from here, but it is worth it.
Lovely, authentically Austrian, family-run place in a beautiful Alpine town with amazing mountain views from the window and balcony. Great location if you have a car, close to Hallstatt and Gosausee lakes and also Salzburg. Good breakfast included and they have a quality restaurant too for dinner. Very kind and helpful hosts - we would have happily stayed much longer here. Vielen Dank!
A mountain chalet style hotel that was very comfortable and met all our needs. The host/manager was very welcoming both before (giving us directions for public transport) and during our short stay. Food was good and scenery is spectacular. Possible to get there by train and 470 bus from Salzburg in 60 minutes. We'd definitely recommend it.
Hospitality of the staff was second-to-none, I sustained an injury prior to coming to the hotel. I warned the staff and they were waiting at the door to assist with my bags and any other needs I encountered during my stay. No request was too much.

Wonderful modern apartment yet has a lot of traditional charm. Set in a beautiful location with stunning views. Ideally located and within walking distance to Abtenau. The host family were very welcoming and friendly and there was excellent communication. We would highly recommend this property.
Centrally located in Abtenau with the front entrance on a lively, picturesque medieval square and the rear entrance having a delightful garden. Useful car park. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Half-board option good value for money.
