So much to see and do. Amazing beaches all along the coast. The city itself is great with all the usual tourist type things to experience. Speedboat tour is recommended and the bus sight-seeing tours out of Bayside are worth the money.
If you like sport, then you can experience football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, soccer at excellent venues.
The Kesaya centre in downtown Miami for basketball is one you could tie in with a few days in Miami itself.
All of the holiday areas feature sandy, golden beaches.
Key West is very expensive, but only a few hours drive from Miami and has to be experienced if you have a longer stay.
Miami is a superb place to take a holiday.

The beach is beautiful and the weather was perfect for me in October - warm and sunny without being too hot or humid.
The art deco architecture of south beach is beautiful: colourful and kitschy and unlike anywhere else I've ever been.
It's a expensive party town - even cheap bars will be $10-15 for a drink. Everywhere seems to automatically add a 20% service charge regardless of party size. Pikio Taco were some of the best tacos I've ever eaten, but pricey (I think I paid over $32 for two tacos and a beer, including the service charge).
There's loads of food tours of Little Havana available - I really enjoyed the one I did and learned a lot about Cuban/American history. The Big Bus tour to the everglades was great - a relatively short excursion that still included an hour long airboat tour and an alligator show.

We visited Miami for a few days while we waited for our cruise. If you have a car, it's easy to get around, if you don't (like us) Uber is the best way to go. Further North of the city it's sketchy, and further South it's sketchy. We tried to go shopping in either area and it was like a ghetto. Did not make either of us feel safe.
Little Havana was beautiful, and fun, great restaurants, and full of places to take cute pictures with the large roosters that lined the sidewalks. Good for the family, or couples. Felt safe.
Best advice is stick to the Tourist areas along the harbor, with all the restaurants, and an outdoor mall, there are lovely parks and areas to watch the beautiful birds, and relax for an afternoon with family. Dog parks are popular there, and lots of seating around.

Miami has changed the last 3 years, Brickell, South Beach or Wynwood, so many things to do, so many restaurants to eat (much better than any other place in US including Aspen lol)... Just amazing
Favorite Spot: eating at the Standard hotel on Venetian!
To avoid: Not a fan of South South beach from Lincoln and upward north till 42 is much better for me.

From what I did get to see, it was cool The Bayside Marketplace was a cool hangout spot for anyone. Couples ,solo, and family oriented. The Dolphin mall was super big. Lots of eatery choices n stores to check out. Definitely get your exercise in while browsing.

The hotel is both close to the airport, with free shuttle, and also close the bus terminal that takes you directly to Miami beach. The room was pretty comfortable and the food trucks nearby had honestly one of the best hot dogs I've ever eaten.
What I like the most was the wonderful location of the Hotel, it is not far from Miami port cruise and beaches, very nice and kind staff, we took this Hotel beacuse it was near from Miami port cruises, however it exceeded all expectations.
Location and free shuttle from the airport was the key decision factor for us. a 5 minute ride from the airport and we were in the hotel ready. Short Uber to south beach so location perfect.
