FAQs about hotels in Taipei

The Undiscovered Asian Capital

Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.

At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.

Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.

Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.

Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, efficient public transport takes you to the Taipei hotels on Booking.com.

There is going to be a lot of walking in Taipei but the transportation system here is so good. We had no problem getting to where we wanted to be. Google Maps is your friend so make sure to download it! The food was also excellent. There are a lot of varieties, though some food stalls do not have English-speaking staff, that won't hinder the quality of the food that they make. Also, Apple Translate saved us from misunderstandings (just use simplified Chinese). The tourist attractions are also worth the visit and some are even within walking distance! Taipei 101 is so breathtaking and taking a walk in Shifen Old Street and Jiufen Old Street was so worth it. Also, we were amazed that there were so many underground malls and everything was connected. It was so convenient! Do not forget to bring a mini notebook for the stamps since a lot of train stations and tourist attractions have their own commemorative stamps! It's a great souvenir!

Taipei has a range of attractions, making it a great place to visit -the National Palace Museum and the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial contain an incredible wealth of artistic and cultural treasures as well as contemporary exhibitions (CSK had an amazing show on AI in art today). There's plenty of modern tech and architecture to admire and explore such as Taipei 101 and the Tao Zhu ecological masterpiece in the Xinyi area. Dining and shopping options are plentiful and varied, and one can also relax and de-stress in the mineral baths in Beitou (on the subway line). A lush green city, surrounded by hills - plenty for nature lovers and hikers too.

The huge bed was incredibly comfortable, and I especially appreciated the electronic washlet toilet seat – a nice touch for added convenience. Both the room and bathroom were spotless, which made the stay even more pleasant. It a small hotel with less than 50 rooms, I understand the breakfast selection can’t compare to larger hotels, but it was still sufficient for a quick start to the day. The hotel's location is ideal, making it easy to explore the surrounding areas. The lighting could be better as some area is not well lighted. Overall, a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it for travelers looking for comfort and convenience!

An amazing city to visit is a food and shopping heaven. Train (MRT) is our main transportation, it is very convenient as it is well connected and the frequency is great. People are friendly but not all are English speakers. The only downside is the weather. Rain in the afternoon daily for 3 to 4 hours.

    I loved Taipei.

I loved Taipei. It was incredibly diverse and urban, with so many different places to go to and visit. The transport system was quite easy to manage once you got used to it, and there was a bubble tea shop on every corner which was definitely a bonus. I would recommend checking out the night markets - they were so many different ones, and they all had slightly different vibes. I would also love to note that the people we encountered were extremely friendly and willing to help, especially when they noticed I was looking a little lost! I would not recommend going in Mid-July, however. The weather was 36C+ every day and humid, which made exploring the city a little harder to manage. But it was still excellent.

The hotel is just a short walk away from Taipei Main Station, which wins massive points from me. The room was surprisingly big for a budget accomadation, which was a pleasant surprise. The toilet seat has advanced features like a bidet and a heated seat, and the vinyl flooring means it's likely cleaner than a room with carpeted flooring. Plus there's a good number of shopping, food options, and convenience stores around the area, including a McDonalds right downstairs!

Location was a bit off the main road, park views are lovely and the vibe is surprisingly calm and relaxing considering how central it is! Great access to a MRT train station - easy to get to Taipei 101 and east/west through the city. Room was gorgeous, the enormous tub was an excellent surprise and we slept extremely well on the bed. Felt absolutely enormous after hotel rooms in Europe 😆 The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The hotel is really close to Taipei Central Station, Taipei City Mall exit 15 and Ningxia Night Market. The rooms (I experienced two of them) were clean and with all amenities you would usually need for a stay in a low-budget city hotel. A safe, blowdryer and bathroom accessories for instance. The staff was very friendly and they kindly accepted to store my luggage for me.

The Mitsui Garden is one of my favourite hotels in Taipei: rooms are spacious and comfortable, it has an onsen on the rooftop, staff is lovely, it's located literally on a good metro station and the breakfast is everything I hope from a great Japanese hotel. It was my second stay and I plan on returning there for my future trips to Taipei.
