The place is modern, the location is excellent, not in old town but you can walk towards old town in 10-15 min. It is across a park which is really nice to walk through or sit on a bench and just relax. Their breakfast buffet is really nice.

There's very few reasons not to visit Riga. It has almost all the advantages of visiting any other western European capital with very few disadvantages.
If I had to be exceptionally nit-picky, I could maybe say that some of the people were a little on the cold side and that you might occasionally run into some less than stellar food. But the positives quickly overshadow any of the negatives and you learn to forgive any shortcomings you might find.
Apart from the old town I was particularly impressed with the city parks. The flower arrangements and river running through several of them was truly delightful.
It's also a very walkable place with various options for getting around otherwise.
Really quite an extraordinary place.

It was my first trip to Riga.
It was my first trip to Riga. I was taken by the understated beauty of the city. I liked the architecture, the old wooden houses and many art nouveau buildings. The city is very clean, people are friendly. There is a very nice, long, sandy beach near Riga. You can easily get there by train, and although planning a beach holiday in the North may not seem a sensible idea, after my experience I would say it is. The sun was shining, the temperature was just OK, you could dip in the sea and enjoy the beach.

We stayed at Neiburgs hotel in the old town which was perfect for sightseeing and restaurants. Our favourite restaurants were Neiburgs and Petergailis. Definitely a good idea to book restaurants in advance as the good ones are often fully booked. The train station was 10mins walk and the river was a few minutes away. The Art Nouveau area had amazing buildings and we did an excellent canal and river trip on a small boat that departed from the park. We also did a day trip to Jurmala which had the most amazing sandy beaches. English was widely spoken in the city and the people were friendly and helpful.

Architecture is wonderful.
Lots of famous buildings, lots of beautiful parkland and art. The National Gallery is cheap and fabulous for its art, the building and the view over Riga. Huge massive market. Local produce and a variety beykng anything youve seen. Interesting history and culture with great museums.
Plenty going on in parks winter and summer, dancing outdoors.
The river is big and beautiful for boats and swims and iced over in winter.
The cathedral and all churches are worth visiting.
Art deco everywhere not just in a museum.
Stasi history, holocost museum all fascinating.
Take a train to Jurmala, swim in the Baltic.
You can easily walk all over the city, but there are trams and buses.

This old style, atmospheric boutique hotel is located right at the heart of Rīga's embassy district, with many good restaurants around. Old Town is within walking distance. The price of the stay was really bargain. Very helpful, experienced owner/administrator, who is willing to assist you as much as she can. She even borrowed me her own umbrella, as I was totally unprepared for some heavy rain during my time in the Latvian capital. Very recomended.
The room looks great, it is clean. The breakfast was very good. The staff was helpful and kind. The location is superb, very close to the bus heading tonthe airport, close to the train station if you want to travel within the country and of course in the old town, so everything is at hand. We would return to this hotel if we visited Riga again
Normally it is good price for very clean room, in well equipped hotel (kitchen, washing machines) for staying at Riga. Big free parking in the back of the hotel, and free places on the street. Very close to tram stop - with direct route to city center / old town. Located close to small grocery stores (100 m) and larger chain stores (500 m)
Friendly staff. My room was huge. The hotel building is up to standard, nothing is lacking. It was built in a time when no effort was invested in the charm of architecture. Nevertheless, ideal hotel in great location with all that's necessary. A nice extended walk to old town Riga can be made from there.
