What a hidden little gym just out of town. The staff were so wonderful and could not do enough for us. After the safari it was so nice to jump in the pool and enjoy the facilities.
The restaurant is decent as well. Highly recommend checking this place out

I can’t recommend staying at Tara Watergate enough. The rooms are big, bright, spacious with large windows looking out onto the lake. The room was very clean, beautifully air conditioned. The staff were incredibly attentive and warm. They kindly organised a safari for us which was the highlight of our trip. I left something behind and the hotel sent it by tuk tuk to me — I am so thankful. The food was the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka, the chefs are very talented. The pool is clean and very refreshing to cool off in.

The room is huge and clean, there is also a lounge space with a sofa and a small table. Bathroom is ok, maybe needs a bit of renewal. The pool was great during the hot days, the staff gave us also some pool towels, very nice and appreciated service. From there you can also arrange a safari tour at Yala. Recommend!

The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery,
which we did and we're very grateful for his advice.
We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off.
Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf...
The most delicious meal it was.
We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

The location is excellent and the resort is real value for money . The food was excellent . The rooms were nice . The toiletries in the bathrooms needs to improve . The bathroom needs exhaust fans as it can get quite stuffy . The resort manager Mr Upal is a nice friendly bloke and is exceptional in his service . Overall a very pleasant experience .

This is a great location to stay if you want to visit the national parks and My Village will organise safaris to the four parks in the area either a half or full day. The local town is not a tourist town but it's great to wander around looking in the local shops.

We were there the first time for safari. We had a tour to the Buddha by the sea…amazing.
This time we were passing through on our way to Ella. We ate at Red Pizza which was just as good second time round.

Was in Tissamaharama for Yala Safari, had booked the early morning Safari.
Disappointed with the Safari as there were very few animals except.for.peacocks and spotted dear.
Later into the ride our jeep driver and guide revealed we had entered through block 5 of the Safari and most the animals(Leopard, Bears) mostly are sighted in block 1 and 2.
Block 1 and 2 were closed that day, maybe just our luck.
So I guess check, with the Safari organizer before booking your safari as it quite expensive.
Basically disappointed ☹️

Very good base for safari to Yala or Bundala parks. I' went to Bundala as I've never been to park with big wetlands and I think it was a great choice. We've seen numerous types of birds, lizards, monkeys, jackals, mangooses, bufallos, crocodiles and also few elephants😊
I didn't stay in center of Tissa but still was able to find nice restaurants, like Smoky Kitchen (recommended).
The pool made everyone happy. It is quite spacious, has deep parts and overlooks the beautiful lake scenery. Thanks for sun-beds and pool towels, that is thoughtful. The room is spacious and has comfy beds. This was the only hotel during our trip in Sri Lanka to provide cribs for little ones. I would also like to compliment the shower located under the stars with a net protecting from insects. I didn’t experience any problems with hot shower, there was a plenty of hot water. The hotel helps to arrange safari in Yala.
Hotel Nilketha is a great option before or after safari in the Yala National Park. The pool and jacuzzi set in the palm trees is beautiful! Our room was very spacious, with firm but comfortable beds, good AC, as well as a good shower with products provided. Wifi was also good.
The hotel owner was extremely welcoming and let us try Sri Lankan Arrack, which was fun! As we were there over Sinhalese New Year, we also enjoyed complementary tea and biscuits. We dined at the hotel too and the local cuisine was delicious.
This is my second time in Sri Lanka and at Laa Safari Inn. This time we had a worm welcome. Clean room, good food. During power failures, they have a generator. That is very important to us.This time we got our safari from the hotel, and he is an experienced guide. So many animals, including three big leopards. Amazing. We got a little closer too. mush love. They also have a good exchange rate. We wish to come back again next time.
Everything! Calm, relaxing environment with a wonderful pool. The staff are so attentive. The food is excellent. Fantastic massage from Gayley Spa at the hotel all arranged easily by the hospitable owner, Bernard. The best place we have stayed in Sri Lanka! Cannot recommend it highly enough. Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Yala or Bundala national parks.
