A stone's throw from the main entrance of the settlement, Kamara, is located the Cycladic traditional residence “Le petit chateau”. The space of the house is special; very few interventions have taken place, so that it can preserve its traditional identity. Its surface is 52 sq. m. and consists of two rooms: a bedroom with a built double bed, a living room with spacious built sofas, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom. Ano Syros is a medieval settlement built on a rock by the Venetians. Countless steps lead to the top, between narrow streets with white houses with colourful doors, composing a different type of city. The settlement was created based on the needs of the era, which were protection against raids and the security of residents. Thus, houses were built in such a way as to constitute a natural fortificationThe magnificent view to the sea is unique from Ano Syros, giving the visitor the chance to see the neighbouring islands of Tinos, Delos, Mykonos, Paros and Naxos. Among the sights you can visit are the monasteries of the Jesuits and Capuchins, as well as the Catholic church of St. George, at the top of the settlement. It is in the narrow streets of Ano Syros that the patriarch of rebetiko song Markos Vamvakaris has grown up and first sung, and his house has been preserved and operates as a museum. During summer, exhibitions and events are organized in the framework of local festivals.
