We went to Tenchong during the peak of Chinese tourist season - the October national holidays. Yet we found peace and tranquillity in this lovely city. We stayed in Heshun, which is a ancient town built on the foot of the hill. This gives it a unparalleled panoramic view over the surrounding farmland and beyond. The town itself is rich in history and one can easily lose oneself meandering through its narrow lanes and rice fields.

Make sure to go see Yunfeng Shan the hike up is steep but not long and the views from the temple are great. Really glad we did the trip - its about 1 hour by car from Teng Chong. Also the Ginkgo village is a must see, a little later in Nov. and the trees would have been fully golden.
