Brussels is well-known as the headquarters of many European institutions and is often called the capital of Europe. However, Belgian waffles, beer and chocolate are just a few of the city’s best-known delicacies that can rival its political reputation.
French and Dutch are city’s two official languages so all streets and landmarks have two different names: don’t be surprised when you look for Grand Place and end up on Grote Markt!
Don’t miss the famous bronze statue aptly named Manneken Pis or the futuristic Atomium, a truly unique architectural creation. Wandering through side streets to discover small bookshops, romantic cafés and ethnic restaurants reveals Brussel's charm.
Brussels is a real melting pot of Europe, filled with great museums and art from Memling, Bosch or Rubens, historic breweries and great concert halls. Shopping addicts can visit the world’s first shopping mall, the Saint Hubert Gallery, opened here in 1847.
If you’re arriving at Brussels Airport or South Charleroi Airport, all major attractions are just a short train or bus ride away. Whether you’re looking for a design hotel, a comfortable apartment or a friendly B&B, Booking.com has something perfect for your Brussels trip.
There are some amazing sights and attractions in Brussels,...
There are some amazing sights and attractions in Brussels, lots of museums and art galleries. The Magrite museum it should be said does not contain his most famous works, they are elsewhere. There are not many Breugels in the Breugel exhibition either. The Old Masters exhibition is very impressive. There is a lot of walking to be done between the different locations and although public transport is plentiful and easy to use, it is expensive, and there seems to be a lack of tourist pass options...also none of the locals seem to pay to use the buses and trams. There are plenty of eating places and different quarters to explore. Two, and three at the very most is sufficient to capture all the main attractions. The Grand-Place is amazing, The cartoon museum is worthy of a visit as is the Cafe De Boulevard just outside which serves lovely spaghetti dishes in a very traditional setting. Autoworld was nice and is set in a nice park. The Flea Market is a nice hour or two distraction and all the antiques shops around. Plan to come home on Monday as most of the attractions are closed that day anyway.

The centre of Brussels is pretty, very beautiful buildings and nice little streets.
Out of the centre is a different story though.
Brussels South is very rough, very dirty and a lot of poverty and beggars.
Also the prices in Brussels surprised me, far more expensive then the Netherlands and in some cases quite ridiculous.
I know Belgian is famous for chocolate and waffles but €65,00 per kilo for chocolate is a bit to much and in some cafes €18,00 for a waffle made of flower, milk and egg...

I absolutely loved my short visit to Brussels.
I absolutely loved my short visit to Brussels. I had been travelling in Europe for a month & had 4 extra days I hadn’t made final decisions on where I would go. A friend recommended going to Belgium to visit Bruges & Brussels & I am so glad I did. I had such a wonderful experience in both places. Brussels was fabulous & 2 days wasn’t nearly enough time. The grandeur of the architecture in the historical area blew me away. When I walked in to the Grand Place square I was in complete awe of the beauty that surrounded me. Then at night to see it all lit up with a purple glow was magical. I explored as much as I had time for & it is a very walkable area. Across from my hotel was the entrance to Galeries Royals St. Hubert - I stoped in to Belairfineart which had a fabulous display of modern art. The food offerings were great - I tried the Belgium fries & they exceeded all my expectations - crispy & delicious with the sweet onion curry sauce. They were so good I went back to Friterie Tabora to stand in line for more the next day. Oh & the chocolate choices are endless with so many decadent shops - most of which provided samples! It would take no time to be on a chocolate high if you sampled at the what seemed like never ending shops as I strolled around the historic city centre. I also was fortunate to take in The World of Banksy exhibit, which I had spotted when I was on the Toot Toot Bus (I’d also recommend the bus to get a tour of the city). If you are considering a trip to Europe I’d highly recommend a visit to Brussels!

It was magical, very fairytale like.
It was magical, very fairytale like. The Grand Palace is GORGEOUS, the architecture is stunning all over. The bustling streets with beautiful friendly people. The Food was Delicious, we ate at Ommgang best pasta everrrrrr, the waffles in Brussels definitely worth the hype, I ate about a dozen in 3 days that I stayed.
Ghent and Bruges, a thousand words cannot describe how pretty it is. Simply magical.
The train was pretty easy to get from Brussels Central to Bruges, an hour. Ghent, half an hour. Once u get to train station in each town there are buses there to take you to the center of the magic.

Great place to even just walk around and explore without a formal tour. Transportation system is great once you figure it out. Half price train fares on weekends so had some wonderful day trips to Bruges and Ghent.

I often go to Brussels on business.
I often go to Brussels on business. I like the historical part of the city with one of the most beautiful squares in Europe (of the ones I have visited). There are many restaurants in the centre where you can eat well, although they are not cheap.

The hotel was in the perfect location, a 3 minute walk from the main city centre. It is a cute little boutique hotel, with clean rooms, friendly staff and the comfiest beds I have ever slept on. Rooms were cosy and warm. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel 😊 Would definitely return to this hotel in future if and when I do come back to Brussels.
This was my second stay in the Motel One. I chose this hotel because of its location (very close to museums and city center). The value for the money is good. It is not the high end hotel but you get what you are paying for. Good for short stays (I went to Brussels just for the weekend).
The hotel is small and located right in the city center of Brussels, making it an ideal starting point for visiting the city. The breakfast, while not very extensive, was tasty. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom featured a bathtub and shower.
Very nice, friendly and helpful personnel. Quite spacious rooms. Hotel is next to the train station Brussels Noordstation, 2 min walk. 10-15 minute relaxed walk from the city center. Also very close to the Metro station.
Location is the best thing about this hotel - a lovely base for exploring Brussels city centre on a budget. Even though it was a budget hotel, we were still pleased with our choice.
