FAQs about hotels in Darwin

Australia's Cyclonic Cocktail

Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).

The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.

A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.

Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

Amazing place - so much to see, do and learn - especially about the Bombing of Darwin in WW11 and Cyclone Tracey. National parks, swimming holes and some crocodile adventures are all close by - what is not to love!

Liked how most things were walkable from our hotel.

Liked how most things were walkable from our hotel. We did the pub crawl on the helicopter which was fabulous. Lots of restaurants and eating places. Next time will hire a car to get to see more of the suburbs etc. We did the Hop on Hop Off Bus Tour.....its a must!! It was very HOT!! but most places have a pool to cool off in.

I am from Sri Lanka and this is what my home country would have been if it made it to the first world. Every single fruit and vegetable that we used to get at home is available and much cheaper. The weather is hotter but man is it better than the cold of New Zealand ! All stories about crocs and the indigenous people are exaggerated.

Visiting Litchfield and Katherine gorge are worth while.

Visiting Litchfield and Katherine gorge are worth while. Swimming in gorges with water falls were great. Scenery is really good. By taking day trips with companies; we learnt a lot about the NT’s history, Indigenous culture, flora and fauna and growth over time. Also visited the Royal Flying Doctors Service Tourist Facility. Where we also had opportunity to additionally view the history of the Darwin’s bombing during WWII. The Museum and Art Gallery was also interesting. The markets are an eclectic mix, but worth visiting The heat and humidity in October is a separate challenge… As a coeliac, many restaurants and cafes were unable to provide any options.

We stayed with family and had no real prior idea of what to expect. We were thoroughly impressed with the variety of dining, markets, and nice places to relax. Bus transport is free until June 2025. Shopping is limited in the city but the nearby suburbs have great shopping malls

Everything was spot clean and prefect. First time in Darwin and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Hotel was close to shops, so much room in apartment, Loved the balcony as it lead to overlooking a part of the city. Apartment was nicely soundproof as we couldn’t hear much of the outside. Was able to just kick back and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The location. Airport & Darwin city only 10 minutes away. Resort was safe, with key access to gated Carpark. Comfortable, very clean, apartment. Nice big balcony, with good outlook to parkland. Enjoyed the Parap Saturday market vibes, just a few steps away from the complex. Good cafes, great local crafts, nice small shops to browse.
