Midway between central London and Gatwick Airport, Croydon is a shopping haven. Hundreds of stores are found under the glass-roofed Whitgift Centre and the even more modern Centrale complex.
This thriving retail industry is one factor contributing to the town being London’s 3rd most important business area, so naturally it has its fair share of skyscrapers. Also tall is the red-brick Croydon Clocktower, housing the town museum, and attached to the town hall overlooking Queen’s Gardens.
Opposite is Fairfield Halls, a large arts venue behind which run train lines connecting East Croydon Station to London Victoria in one direction, and Gatwick and Brighton in the other. Modern trams also link the town to other suburbs. Croydon used to have its own airport (once more important than Heathrow) and its former terminal is a museum open one Sunday a month.
The town minster houses tombs of some archbishops of Canterbury and their summer residence was Croydon Palace, now a school. Much more famous is the BRIT School which has nurtured musical artists including Adele, Jessie J and Katie Melua.
The Croydon accommodation on Booking.com includes 4-star hotels with pools, guest houses with parking and cheap apartments. In the Borough of Croydon are Addington, home of an opulent palace, and neighbouring Shirley with its Grade II-listed windmill.

Croydon is a great location for travelling into and out of London due to its rail connections and proximity to M25/M23. There are a very few spots with great food but generally it is geared for what will go with chips. House prices are still a bargain for what you get compared to most of London, cost of renting average. Great private schools, govt schools not so good. Lots of open spaces and parks. The centre is sad, waiting as it is for large redevelopment so no quality shopping. This and the appallingly smelly pedestrian underpasses are shameful for a town of his geographical importance. The widespread allegation by many locals of literally criminal neglect in the management of Croydon should really be looked into

Paying for breakfast hot or cold £10 is not on & paying for parking when you’re booked to stay & saying it’s first come first served is not on especially if you’re a woman on your own from out of town

Great view. A few things were broken in the unit.
Great view. A few things were broken in the unit. Well located near the train, easy to get to London and food.
200 pound deposit is not possible when booked at short notice as an international traveller. An international transfer cannot happen that quickly and cash was not accepted. Just not practical. Thanks to the lady who dropped the key, she was great.

It's a real dump compared to when I lived there 8 years ago.
It's a real dump compared to when I lived there 8 years ago. Was visiting friends and that's the only reason I was there. Transport is good and there's masses of eateries to choose from. A good cinema but it's just masses of housing, roadworks and traffic jams

Clean , aesthetically appealing and pleasing to the eye. Extra bathroom made it a fantastic choice. Extra linens and towels were all available. Cosy and warm as well. Host was friendly and very helpful when called upon and even checked on us frequently. Quiet residential neighborhood with a 3 minutes walk to a bus station which can take you to East Croydon Station for connections to central London. Generally great place to be and I would recommend this a 100% to anyone .
Breakfast is good. Wi-Fi is fast. The staff are very helpful. If you are driving in London, then it's a great location. They have parking onsite with lots of space. This hotel is near a commercial center with quite a few options of restaurants, within a walking distance (only 5mins walking). It's not far to East Croydon Station (about 8 mins by taxi), and from there you can take one of the express trains and be in the city center quite quickly.
The staff at the Croydon Hampton by Hilton are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, particularly Prased on reception and Harun on breakfast service. The hotel is very conveniently located, right next to East Croydon station and therefore for central London by train. The breakfast was great. This hotel is an all round star.
Very very close to East Croydon train station. A no frills hotel that's great for a cheap budget to spend a few days in london and the area. Huge shopping mall about 10 mins away by foot
