Very basic room, but very comfortable and well located. Alan was extremely helpful with tips and went above and beyond to help return my kids' stuffed animals that they forgot.

Has every basic convinience for a short stay:
Close to the train/bus station.
Electric outlet near bed.
Heater ( a bit weak, but ok)
Lamp at bed.
And rarely seen at a budget place :
Heated matress
A sink ( toilet is external )
Of course all in simple, rustic form - but i stll liked it because having all that more refined would have been double or triple the price.

Good location. Large, fairly comfortable bed. The pillows are super flat, though. Heat pump works good. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. Would stay here again!

Location! A quick walk to a beautiful beach and short drive to Greymouth and about an hour to Pancake rocks. The room was large and everything was clean.

A lovely township with beautiful bush on one side and the rugged Tasman Sea. Some lovely buildings in the CBD, and the restaurants, bakeries and takeaways, are well worth visiting.
Greymouth is a good starting place to travel the West Coast from. You can go south to Hokitika or North to Westport.

Think Greymouth needs a face lift entirely.
Hotel grounds look untidy, unkept, not usual standards for Copthorne Hotels.
Shops virtually all closed by the time Transalpine train arrives in city on Saturday. Shame as lots of International tourists visiting. If you havent planned anything prior then nothing really to do Except walk the river front which led to industrial area, sad. Did visit a craft market. Cute stalls, bought a few itwns. Lovely people, very friendly.
Visited great coffee shop around corner from hotel in side street towards train station.
Monteiths great for snacks drinks lunch etc.,Just across the road from train staion.
Only stayed overnight left on train next day..
Wonderful trip on train But really don't think we will return to Greymouth.

A very strong, freezing wind was blowing, unfortunately, during my stay, which hampered my exploration of the Greymouth area. The library was well set up for Wifi and warmth. I was unable to find a cafe/restaurant with good food. Coffee was good. The iSite staff were friendly, and were able to answer all of my questions. I arrived on the TranzAlpine train, this journey was well worth while.

Global Village Travelers hostel was the most attractive of the six I stayed in during my visit to the West Coast. It was clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Each bed of my female only dorm room had its own electrical outlet and light. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with cookware. Lots of books and pamphlets in the common rooms about the surrounding area. I recommend it highly for solo female travelers!

Very good stopping pony to visit pancake rocks and the blow holes. We walked to the coal creek falls which was lovely. We drove to Franz Josef, Fox Glacier and Hokitika. Greymouth was okay but there is absolutely nothing to do when it’s raining. Its only a small town.. the big pils is it has no traffic lights!
The beds and shower were amazing! The room was at a comfortable temperature without having to turn any heating on. The hotel was so accessible to the TranzAlpine train station, especially when walking. The menu evening/breakfast choices and food were amazing and the staff hospitality was superb 😊 Pounamu Pathway - Māwhera was amazing, highly recommend.
Affordable place to stay not too far from Greymouth, Punakaiki and Arthur's Pass. We stayed for a night, and John was very kind and helpful during our stay. The rooms were a bit cold as we couldn't get the heater working, but was quickly fixed. The kitchen and lounge area is very homely and luckily we were the only ones using it during our stay!
Good location a few km south of Greymouth. Very comfortable, well-equipped room. Warm and welcoming. Friendly, cheerful staff. A good restaurant on site. No hesitation in recommending the Paroa Hotel.
