The hotel was centrally located. The room was clean. This was the first time for this type of hotel. It required self-check-in and out. It felt like an adult dormitory in a good way. Would definitely return.

Location was very good. Easy to get around either by walking or using the Tram system. Breakfast was very good, although a little chaotic since it was crowded at the hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. Appreciated the coffee bar/machine in the lobby, and also cold water. Highly recommend!

Thon Hotel Astoria, hotel in Oslo

This hotel offers good-value accommodations just a few steps from the shops, restaurants and cafés of Karl Johans gate, Oslo’s main street. Oslo Central Station is only 820 ft away.

They had a great selection of breakfast and the staff are both kind and very well-versed around the city of Oslo. Going to anywhere is very easy due to it being within 5min of the train station (for far travel) and being next to Karl Johan's street (for going to places within Oslo itself). This also works the other way; if you ever get lost in Oslo, just go to the train station or Karl Johan's street, and from there you'll easily find it.

FAQs about hotels in Oslo

Into the Wild in Oslo

Spreading for hundreds of miles from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.

For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.

From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.

Oslo has a lot to offer for 2-4 days. There are many museums and historical sights and good public transit to more natural surroundings. The fjord location makes a variety of water sports close at hand. Weather can be variable, so plan to be flexible and always have a raincoat.

Oslo is a beautiful city with warm and welcoming people. We got the Oslo Pass for 72 hours and used it for public transport and 8 museums. Very good value. The city is very walkable, but extremely expensive! Take the regular train from the airport...half the price of the express and only 4 minutes longer!

Oslo is a totally walkable, beautiful city with many interesting things to see. I am sad that I was there only 1 day. People are friendly, everyone seems to speak English, which is great as I speak other languages but not Norwegian. The City Hall is not to be missed. The Resistance Museum was interesting, too. Beautiful parks, squares and the Royal Palace which is visible from many places. I will go back!

Norway is a very beautiful country and its people are very helpful and friendly. My trip was 15 days, I visited Bergen, Voss, Flam, Stryn, Loen, Olden, Geiranger, Oslo. The cities are very clean, the air is clear and the weather was great. Oslo is characterized by many beautiful tourist attractions . The fun thing is that you can walk to them because they are close to each other. I will visit Norway again and I recommend visiting it.

Book the Deluxe Double Room. The location is perfect and very close to everything. The lounge is severely underrated and should be visited by all who stay here. The chef was brought in and is amazing. Small menu, tried everything and it was all 5 star. The rooms can be surprisingly small in this hotel. The Deluxe Double rooms are on the front corner of the hotel and have the most space (see my fire exit picture). It is worth every penny for this space and it has the best view.
