Interesting and typical tropical island town with a lot of construction underway. Look for less scruffy places such Legends, a bar by river, and Corner Cafe which does excellent food. Not overly large, we walked around the main town centre. Everyone very friendly and proud of their Fijian heritage.

The main international AP for Fiji is in Nadi and it is the gateway to some of the most popular island resorts.
There are however some great hotels in Nadi - we stayed in two this trip as well as going out to Matamanoa island.
IF you want special accom in Nadi before going elsewhere why not opt for beach or river facing resorts, can recommend.

I went to discover the real fiji.
I went to discover the real fiji. Traveling on the bus up back streets. Very disappointed with the rubbish everywhere. It's obviously not a wealthy country low rates of pay but they seem happy. Housing very basic everyone seems to use public transport, roads are in poor state of repair. If you want to see the real fiji go there, if you want luxury and be a tourist maybe look elsewhere.

Sorry, I only overnighted in Nadi so didn't get to see the town on this occasion. During previous visits I felt safe in the city, people as with everywhere I've travelled in Fiji are the gems that make this country sparkle. They are amazingly friendly and helpful.

Nadi isn't a very interesting city in itself, and most people either head straight to the nearby resorts of Denarau island (adjacent to city) or for beach resorts and islands further afield. But an overnight stay is often needed for flight connections. Prices are high for what you get, but the city seems safe and well-run. No complaints.
It was a great base for getting to Denaru and the islands and convenient to Nadi airport. Club Fiji Is a friendly place with simple, affordable accomodation that served our needs well. Pools, bar, restaurant, pizza bar, sun lounges and a lovely sunset. In the beachfront bungalows a fridge and kettle were very useful. The staff are friendly and efficient and I would happily book again.
The location was pretty good. Beautiful beach and some places to choose from where to eat. Also a supermarket close by. The beach had an amazing sunset. The hotel has a pool that we didn’t use. They also had some live music. Food was okay.
Staff was very friendly as all Fijians really.
We stayed at the Fiji Gateway overnight on our way to Savusavu. The hotel is across the road from the airport which made for an easy arrival and departure. Our room was clean, comfortable and had tea/coffee making. The lobby had a cafe serving espresso and the breakfast was good.
Location is great, and the common area (dining hall, beachfront bar and restaurant, pool) is beautiful, very well maintained. The room condition was not that great but definitely good value for the money. Compared to other hotels I stayed around Fiji, staff service is mediocre.
The pool exceeded expectations, lovely and clean and felt more like a hotel relaxing next to it than a hostel. Great air-conditioning and comfy beds! Very friendly staff who helped us see a lot of Fiji culture.
