Boasting a garden, Kukummi Lodge - formerly Mackaya Bella Country Lodge is situated in Champagne Valley in the KwaZulu-Natal region, 32 km from Winterton Museum and 48 km from Spioenkop Nature... Our stay at Mackaya Bella was sensational. Our family of five had the whole lodge to ourselves as we booked out three huts making the experience feel luxurious and intimate. Patrick and Lynn were the sweetest hosts who catered to our every need. Patrick was kind enough to act as a tour guide going above and beyond to walk us to the phenomenal Bushman cave paintings and stunning freshwater pool along the river. This hike was located on their property so there was no need to drive all the way out to see the nature (although leaving the property to explore was not a problem either). They also allowed us to spend time with their beautiful dogs Bella and Little Bear which helped us with the separation from our own beloved pets. We felt very safe. The nature reserve around the lodge was stunning. At your doorstep is a view of the Drakensberg mountains and surrounding wildlife - the perfect backdrop. Plenty of wild animals roam the property and you can see the trails they leave behind. Right near the lodge is a small waterfall that flows almost all year round. The water in this area is as pure as pure can be. Our rooms were very cosy and comfortable. There were very little mosquitoes when we were there considering the fresh water was constantly flowing on the property. There was a fireplace inside the main lodge as well as outside with the mountain views that allowed us to enjoy each space in the evening (even with loadshedding). Lynn and Patrick accommodated our dietary requests (vegetarian and vegan) giving us wonderful breakfast options where other places would be lacking. We visited Champaigne Castle Hotel out of curiosity. Albeit very nice, we were extremely happy that we chose Mackaya Bella instead. We felt so at home at this wonderful lodge and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the Drakensberg area. We hope that Patrick and Lynn will see many more guests this year as they could not be more deserving.

Offering free WiFi and mountain views, The Cottage on the Corner is an accommodation set in Himeville. The property features garden views, plus is 600 metres from Himeville Museum. Perfect place to stay and it got everything you could and couldnt think of in the cottage. The most comfortable place we have stayed in so far!!!

Set in Balgowan in the KwaZulu-Natal region and Bosch Hoek Golf Club reachable within 8.2 km, Gowan Valley Guest Farm offers accommodation with free WiFi, a children's playground, an outdoor swimming... The service, location (very close proximity to Michaelhouse) and quality and size of room was really great. Not to mention the brekky which was delicious!

Located near Winterton in the Champagne Valley, The Goodland Cottages have barbecue facilities and a garden, as well as free WiFi. First of all, I love the place, it’s so quiet, this bees I love everything about it.

Offering pool views, Little Milton is an accommodation situated in Nottingham Road, 20 km from Fort Nottingham Museum and 23 km from Bosch Hoek Golf Club. Perfect location. Excellent service and very attentive.

Located in Rosetta, 43 km from Hilton, Glen Ormond Country House boasts an outdoor pool and views of the mountain. Rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. Jennifer and her husband went out of their way to make every aspect of our stay perfect. The cottage is spotlessly clean, very comfortable and really cozy! They are warm inside for the winter and the terrace with a gorgeous view is perfect for the summer! The breakfasts are out of this world!! Jennifer is a very creative cook and very attentive to details- every single thing in the property was taken care of and provided. We will definitely stay again!!! Thank you!!

Located 8 km from Underberg, Malachite Manor has well-equipped accommodation boasting free WiFi. Fitted with a patio, the units feature a TV and a private bathroom with bath. Beautiful place set in a beautiful part of the region, with modern and very well-furnished rooms. Wide ranging menu for dinner (some of the best beef we’ve had) and a beautiful garden to sit in during late afternoon

Boasting garden views, The FarSide Country Manor features accommodation with a garden, a bar and a shared lounge, around 11 km from Bosch Hoek Golf Club. Everything! A little slice of Heaven in the Midlands. Thanks Ryan for such a warm welcome. Really comfortable space. Great breakfast.

Berghouse and Cottages is situated in a rural setting, high up in the Northern Drakensberg Hills, 30 km from Bergville. Free WiFi is available in each cottage. The location for the cottages was amazing. The view is breathtaking. Comfy beds. Tasty food. We brought our own Braai materials for one night and also sampled their in house prepared breakfast, all excellent. Braai facilities are great and kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Great activities including swimming in a pool with one of the best vistas you could hope for worldwide. We also enjoyed horseback riding. Only a 25 min drive to Royal Natal Park where is was easy to do an afternoon hike to the Cascades and back. Just an outstanding stay :)
