On this tour, you’ll head into the heart of Johannesburg’s Soweto – the country’s largest township – to explore its history and culture. A friendly guide will accompany you, and you’ll travel on the public transport used by locals – a minibus taxi.
You’ll visit the Hector Pieterson Museum where you’ll learn about the tragedy of the school students killed in the 1976 Soweto Uprising, the museum at Mandela House as well as the former residences of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela’s ex-wife Winnie Mandela.
You’ll also see the iconic Orlando Towers and stop at Soweto’s only brewery. Here you can taste five types of local beer. Your tour will include a mouth-watering kota – a traditional South African-style burger involving a quarter loaf hollowed out and stuffed with chips, burger meat, egg and cheese.
