With its ancient Roman architecture, whitewashed Berber villages and a capital city steeped in history, Djerba offers much more than just sand and sunshine. Highlights of this morning tour include the ancient dam, Guellala, and Houmt souk.
You'll start by visiting an ancient Roman dam. This low rock bridge, which is said to be 2,000 years old and once 6 km long, was built to connect Djerba to the coast. Continue to Guellala, where you'll have free time to explore the famous pottery center and shop for decorative earthenware vessels and bowls in the souk.
You will then head to Houmt-Souk, the capital of the island. Soak up the atmosphere in the maze-like streets before heading back in time at the local museum. Your last stop is Dar Jilani. This basement location is the home and studio of local artist M. Jilani and is considered Aladdin's den of creativity.
