This full-day tour will take you high into mainland Portugal’s tallest mountain range – the Serra da Estrela – to explore quaint villages and points of natural beauty.
From Coimbra, you'll head first to an olive oil mill to learn about the production process and taste local products. After passing through the village of Bobadela and its Roman ruins, you'll visit a winery in the Dão region to learn about wine production and participate in a tasting.
At a traditional cheese shop, you'll get to try cheese produced from the milk of mountain goats and sheep. Following a picnic lunch, you'll head to one of Portugal’s highest villages for a coffee and a lesson about one of the oldest sheepdog breeds on the Iberian Peninsula – the Serra da Estrela dog. Finally, you'll reach the top of the mountain, which features more panoramic views.
