This immersive tour will give you a chance to experience the traditional Māori culture and cuisine. On the day of the tour, an air-conditioned bus will take you to the Tamaki Māori Village on the outskirts of Rotorua. As you arrive in the Tawa Forest, a group of warriors will perform an ancient ceremony of welcoming visitors into the village. You can then participate in New Zealand's pre-European activities, such as tattooing, carving, weaving and warrior training.
Just before dinner, you'll get a glimpse of how Māori people cook baskets of food on a hangi pit beneath hot stones. You'll proceed to an ancestral meeting house, where you'll be treated to a traditional hangi feast while enjoying a cultural performance.
