On this day trip from Fes, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the Spanish-Moorish architecture of Meknes.
Your first stop will be in Volubilis, where you’ll get to see the remains of a 2,000-year-old Roman complex. You’ll then move on to Moulay Idriss to stroll along the narrow streets of this charming town, named after Morocco’s first Islamic ruler.
The last stop will be in Meknes, founded in the 11th century as a military settlement that transformed into Morocco’s capital when the Alaouite dynasty first came to power. You can admire the medina’s monumental gates and take in the Moorish decorative features. Before returning to Fes, you’ll get to walk along the city walls, visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail and see craftwork on display at the Museum of Moroccan Art.
