Whisky Distillery Visit and Lacquer Painting Experience in Sendai

1. This half-day tour includes a visit to the Miyagikyo Distillery owned by world-famous Nikka Whisky, and a chopsticks lacquering experience where customers can apply lacquering techniques used in making Sendai's traditional craft of tansu (traditional Japanese wooden chests). The tour is accompanied by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter.

2. Miyagikyo Distillery is owned by Nikka Whisky, one of the world's 5 major Japanese whisky producers. The guide will explain about the history of Nikka Whisky and how whisky is produced, and customers can enjoy taste testing at the end.

3. At Sendai Tansu Kumanodo, a workshop specializing in Sendai's traditional craft of making tansu (traditional Japanese chests made with wood and iron fittings), customers will go on a chopsticks lacquering experience under the direct supervision of artisans, applying lacquer painting techniques used in the process of making Sendai tansu.
