On this walking tour, you’ll explore Winchester’s rich literary heritage. Many of England’s most noteworthy authors like Thomas Hardy, John Keats and Jane Austen had connections to the city and you’ll see places that inspired them and their works.
You’ll view Westgate, the city’s 12th-century gateway and head to the medieval Great Hall that features a replica of the mythical King Arthur’s round table. Along the banks of the River Itchen, you can follow in the footsteps of Keats and your guide will tell you more about the life of Jane Austen too. The tour will end with a stop at the Jane Austen House, where the writer spent the final eight years of her life.
