On this walking tour, youâll explore Winchesterâs rich literary heritage. Many of Englandâs most noteworthy authors like Thomas Hardy, John Keats and Jane Austen had connections to the city and youâll see places that inspired them and their works.
Youâll view Westgate, the cityâs 12th-century gateway and head to the medieval Great Hall that features a replica of the mythical King Arthurâs round table. Along the banks of the River Itchen, you can follow in the footsteps of Keats and your guide will tell you more about the life of Jane Austen too. The tour will end with a stop at the Jane Austen House, where the writer spent the final eight years of her life.
