City hall tour provides insights

Have you always wanted to peek behind the doors in the magnificent New Town Hall that are normally closed to visitors? The HMTG offers an exciting guided tour through the new town hall with an exclusive visit to selected rooms. The new town hall was built at the beginning of the 20th century in the magnificent style of the Wilhelmine era. The dome measures an impressive 97.73 meters to the gilded tip.

Inside, city models illustrate the development of Hanover in four phases: 1689, 1939, after the destruction in 1945 and today.

An inclined elevator leads up to a viewing platform. From here, the visitor has a magnificent view over Hanover. Please note that the tour of the town hall does not include the ascent to the tower. You can get the tickets for the ascent to the town hall tower directly at the info counter of the tourist information in the New Town Hall.
