On this self-guided tour, you’ll head to Mount Pilatus from Lucerne. You’ll start by taking a bus from Lucerne to Kriens station, before ascending the mountain on a 30-minute cable car ride. You can hop off at Fräkmüntegg to visit one of the country’s biggest rope parks and follow the sledding and snowshoe trails in winter, or continue to Pilatus Kulm via another cable car.
From the top, you can spend your time as you wish. You can hike one of the peaks – Esel, Oberhaupt or Tomlishorn – or just soak up the views of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains. You’ll proceed back down the mountain in one of the world’s steepest cogwheel railways and catch the train back to the city from Alpnachstad.
