Whale watching and dog sledding were fabulous. Went on two aurora trips, one driving and one on a ship, without seeing much. Luckily on the last evening we took the cable car and were rewarded with the aurora in full glory! So if you've come to see the lights, try the cable car. The view and walks at the top are worth it anyway. It can get pretty cold. - 20°C in the town centre when we where there so very good thermals needed.
The Håkøya Lodge has everything one needs for a cosy, quiet holiday in Tromsø. In the well-equipped kitchen one can make meals to be eaten in front of the gas fireplace, and it's in a good location to get to the town or go on day trips.
MAGIC PLACE we had snow a fantastic car a nice place fantastic host and great guides . a super supermarket with fresh fish and superb meat .. plenty of veg we saw the Aurora borealis twice, one even from the terrace at home.. the reindeers free and in with the SAMi people. we did few short drive around to see the fiord at day and night.. ( well we had 3 jh light a day we rest we had twice dinner out in Tromso and in Skogfiords we had super company for chasing the first night the l nordic lights called Wandering Owl ..all was magic .
Beautiful, very international little town in the Polar Artic, known to be the best place to see the Northern Lights. We were lucky enough to see them the very first night, despite the rainy weather. We were very satisfied with the activities we booked (Sami with Reindeer, boat cruise with Northern Lights, Safari, Fjords...). 9 out of 10 guides are friendly foreigners in search of adventures. It was my sister's second time there, and I would actually love to return.
Tromso's overall vibe was really nice. We loved the city centre area, the cathedral, Trolls museum, the bars, restaurants and cafes. A great place for viewing northern lights. The harbour area was simply gorgeous.
Overrated city. Too many tourists who are always on your way. City seems never ready for so many tourist- we had to eat out all the time as there was no chance to sit at the restaurant, sometimes even at the café. It never happened in my life. It was dark but city is not very attractive too- wet, icy, average. Winter is very fussy and can be more wet than snowy and warm. Also- very windy. Nice attractions- harbour, mountains, long bridge to walk across to The Artic Cathedral. Airport is small and have no restaurants and sits available before check in. People sit on luggage belt. Very tiring for night flights. They should care more as this city has been popular for many years now. People are usually not welcoming too. Rude, negligent customer service, starting with awful Norwegian airlines- what a disappointment! But I recommend all day trips outside a town. We had beautiful trip around fiords and isles, including reindeer experience . It was fantastic and our guide was great and polite man. Just get outside this city! It is gorgeous there. I would not come back to Tromso.
