Featuring a shared lounge, terrace, bar and free WiFi, The Namkhan, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World is located in Luang Prabang, 6 km from Night Market and 6.1 km from Mount Phousy. This is truly one of the most incredible places and hotels I have visited in my life ! Both my daughter (age 6) and I truly loved EVERYTHING The Namkhan had to offer. In fact, the tranquility of the surroundings, as well as the wonderful set up of the hotel (including lots of playground equipment for kids) meant that we unintentionally decided to spend a full day of our stay simply at the hotel itself. The staff is so wonderfully friendly - anticipating needs but not intrusive at all. And the food was scrumptious especially with the Farm-to-Table approach from its beautiful gardens. My daughter and I even had a go at cooking our own Laotian meal! I also can highly recommend the Namkhan Tents for those who would like a slightly different accommodation experience - both really comfortable and with a really special outdoor private space at the river. We are literally already planning our next trip to Luang Prabang just to visit the Namkhan again!

Great town. Main Street is wonderful, lots of restaurants and shops. Temples are all very close to the Main Street. Mount Phousi is in the heart of the town. Easy access to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls and Pak Ou caves. Old town feeling at night when all places are lit up. The Alms giving ceremony in the mornings is beautiful.
I loved Luang Prabang, you can stay there a good 4-5 days and see quite some things. I had a nice feeling in the city and experienced nice things there, the museum, the temples and the highlight of it all the Waterfalls where you can swim in! very very nice jungle feeling and the water was so nice and refreshing and clean, totally recommend staying in Luang Prabang.
There is plenty of things to see and do for all different types of travellers. We enjoyed excursions as much as we enjoyed wandering the town or just sitting, having a drink and watching the world go by. Learning the rich history and culture of the local Laotians both, city and country was engaging and interesting. Can recommend Living Land Farm experience - this was a great way to spend a morning and your excursion costs goes towards a great cause. Sa Sa Sunset Dinner cruise is a must - don't just get the free cocktail - try the food - it is amazing. The food in Luang Prubang is epic. One of our favourite food journeys The people are friendly, kind and warm - not pushy at all.
Stunning! Beautiful architecture, totally relaxing on the Mekong and lovely friendly people. An absolute gem! Really need at least 3 to 4 days to cover all attractions but perhaps much longer if you really want to chill!
It has kept its charm and is still worthy of the World Heritage status. we visited during the low season, but i guess it could be owercrowded during high season. The new railway makes it an easy target for mass tourism. Still a unique place in SouthEast Asia with so much history.
Just wandering & absorbing the sights & atmosphere of this unusual town was good. The cultural centre (TAEC) was informative but we didn't go into the palace because they wanted us to leave our bags behind. Too big a risk with passports, money etc in them. The night market was fun; the food there was varied & cheap.
