Gästehaus Gebauer enjoys a location in Hornbach, 30 miles from Parliament of Saarland and 30 miles from Saarlaendisches Staatstheater. Quiet location with designated parking opposite. The hosts were very welcoming. The room was spotless and the little extras i.e. toiletries, chocolates, water and tea/coffee were a nice touch. There's not a lot open on a Monday in Hornbach but we managed to get a table at Klosters Hotel (the best meal we had all holiday) and there is a good supermarket close by that has a little coffee shop.

Kloster Hornbach is located in Hornbach among the picturesque hills of Rhineland-Palatinate, 0.6 mi from the French border. Calm, elegant and relaxed atmosphere. Staff very attentive and the owner of the hotel introduced himself and welcomed us at dinner. The staff went the extra mile to make sure everything was great. Several ‘extras’ at other hotels were included, such as a welcome sparkling wine on arrival, a piece of cake in the bedroom and a stocked minibar which was all free of charge. They even gave us a couple of bottles of water for our onward journey on check out. Absolutely faultless throughout, evening meal was of very high quality and not too pricey.

Be aware, all restaurants and bars are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in Hornbach, although travelling to Eppenbrunn near by, there are several restaurants open for lunch and into the evening. Hornbach has 3 bars and restaurants excluding the large hotels in the town and 1 restaurant for walkers near by in the woods. Hornbach is central to many other attractions and has itself an old monastery centraly placed inside the town. Lovely little place - good for a base for further site seeing.
