The small family-run Hotel Elch is situated in the idyllic castle district in Nuremberg, between Weinmarkt and Neutor, next to St. Sebald church. Free WiFi is available throughout. Excellent location in the very heart of the city. Comfortable and cleaned rooms.
Wrong location written on the announcement and absolutely no info on how to enter the apartment. I had to move 15km far to reach the actual location when I landed on Sunday night at the airport (I explicitly mentioned this in my reservation). The host luckily started responding me after calling him, then I discovered how to enter with a key hidden under a stone. Apartment was found not clean on floor and forfeitures.
Nurnberg is a very walkable city - reasonably flat and easy to navigate. It is full of great places to eat ( though probably not for pescatarians!) There are some lovely bits of architecture and the quality of the museums is excellent - well planned and thought out. Not exactly a joyous moment but I woudl really recommend that all visitors go to the Nurnberg Trial Museum - even though we know the story, the reality of the crimes examined is deeply shocking.
For Weihnachtsmarkt, Nürnberg is THE place to go! The best and most beautiful Weihnachtsmarkts in Germany (In my opinion! I have visited Nürnberg several times and also visited other Weinachmarkts in other parts of Germany)
Is there anything better than a walled city? not ever. And for Christmas markets, Nuremberg is well know as a true destination. The history, architecture and culture brought us for a visit and we were certainly impressed.
This was our second visit. The first was in the summer and it is great to walk around and relax. The second was for the Christmas markets. We had heard so much about them. The market was busy but I doubt that we would return for the Christmas market. Cologne offers more variety.
Interesting city with medieval history & home city of Albrecht Durer. Lots of museums. Centre fairly compact & mostly pedestrianised - i.e. stress free to walk around. Lots of shops & food outlets.
