Whistler is absolutely stunning with high end restaurants and shopping. The people are so friendly. We are hikers and there were plenty of hiking options. Wish we had stayed longer and we can't wait to return. Whistler exceeded our expectations.
Great skiing and snowboarding. Easy access to Gondola and lifts with little or no queues. Hotel facilities very good. Restaurants close by and food good. Ski and Snowboard shop staff extremely helpful.
I've been coming back to Whistler from Australia in both winter and summer for 35 years. Despite the distance I regard Blackcomb as my "home" resort. Plan and buy your tickets early as the daily prices are outrageous ( common to every Vail owned resort).
After we got there, we found out from locals that it's not really a powder place. The snow is usually heavy and wet. And while we were there it didn't snow much so the runs were pretty much concrete. Still, it's huge, and there are such a variety of runs. We probably skied and rode about 5% of it over two days. And we never had to wait more than ten minutes for a lift. If it was reasonably priced I would go again. But since like most of North America these days, it was so expensive, I'd find it hard to justify going again. We can go to premier resorts here in Japan four or five times for the price we paid for one time at Whistler.
A fantastic place to go for a ski trip or to just relax. Whistler, has a nice relaxing European vibe along with a friendly family atmosphere. You meet people from everywhere there. There is loads of shops, restaurants from sushi, splitz grill for burgers or hot buns bakery for some good crepes, or anything in between you can find whatever your appetite desires. Also outdoor adventures, zip lines we have done in the past for the people that want to try something different, all within short walking distance. As a family or couple, we travel to whistler 3-4 times a year for multiple days and can’t recommend it enough.
Whistler is an outstanding resort with high end experiences and grab and go eating. Fairmont Chalet for fondou and Tim Horton's for the Canadian donut. The real basic needs like a proper grocery store, Rexall drug store and post office are all there. You forgot it, no problem. My son forgot to pack his swimming trunks for the hot tub - no problem. I bought him one at a decent price in the Village at the appropriately named "The Beach." The natural beauty is hard to beat. The snow for skiers was phenomenal. My family couldn't get over the vastness of the resort. The lift heading up the mountain actually stops at a half way point for beginner skiers and keeps going up, up and up! I couldn't ski but was able to meet on the mountain and bring a healthy lunch to the scenic Umbrella Bar. The server was super cheerful and said to just buy our drinks there and eat our healthy food. It was magical. You get tired of eating out, you buy food for the condo, so I got to treat my family to a picnic lunch on the mountain. Just lovely and fun! I took a right on the peak to peak gondola before heading back down to the Village.
