I was in Echuca for a family funeral and my late request for early check-in was very kindly accommodated. Although this is an older style motel, the rooms are immaculately clean. Booking.com did not tell me the pool heater was out of order until the reminder email not when i was booking. They supposedly gave us an upgrade which was opposite a building site and we were not told there was a lot of renovations happening. The unit was not flash so if that was an upgrade id hate to see what i booked..
We have stayed in Echuca often and its always changing, some of the tourist places have gone and some have modernized. This has not had an effect on the nostalgia of the town. The wharf is still the main attraction as well as the paddle steamers, sadly the Holden Museum has gone. If you are looking for a great pizza try Romas Pizza Restaurant you won't be disappointed.
Very friendly staff in local shops, cafes etc.. Did not get good advice from local tourist brochure re Barmah Forest. Went to NSW side - facilities closed - some for renovation. Poor signage - esp could not get down to Murray.
Living history on show . Take a paddle steamer trip . It is very special and full of information . The riverside displays are worth seeing . The road trip we took along the Murray River is a showcase of great country towns and Silo Art and Rutherglen wineries .
Weather was perfect, wish there was more to do around town and the old port, most things were closed. Enjoyed breakfast at Essen and the Wren, steer clear of the Moama RSL if you appreciate good food.
It's a great place to holiday for everyone. have been there a number of times and will be going again soon. can be very busy in vacation season and long weekends. a lot of food restaurants close early apart from the usual fast food big chain stores.
